Thrifted: Vintage Trunk

For the longest time I have been talking about needing a coffee table.  Our books end up all over the living room floor along with our glasses (which has led to one too many red wine spills).  Of course there was no way I would ever buy one new at a furniture store and had yet to find something decent at a thrift store. Until this week when I saw this beauty calling my name with a bright white glow radiating from it in the back corner of a thrift store. I knew it was "the one."  It fits the look of our home perfectly. Actually it's a trunk (vintage, no less!) not a coffee table, but I absolutely LOVE that.  It serves as extra storage which we are desperate for.  No more red wine spills! Okay yeah right, I'm a total klutz and will knock over my glass while setting a book on our new trunk.  At least we have something to cover up the stains in the middle of the floor now.

How much did she cost you ask?
Just $10!!!  It had two stickers. One said $20 the other $10.  The kind associate whom I am forever grateful gave it to us for $10.  I could have reached over the counter and gave that man a big bear hug.  I refrained.

What an awesome find! I'm sure it adds so much character to the room! After 6 months my boyfriend and I are still trying to put together a finished interior. We're both so thrifty and have no luck for finding gems like that!

Anyway, you've got a new follower and I'm linking you up at my blog. Can't wait to see more of your decor and DIY posts!

Love

Visiting from 20sb. Great find! While cleaning out my grandpa's house I found two trunks. One his mom brought with her to the US from Poland and the other is huge and in the garage (no idea on the history). Enjoy yours!

OK, you totally STOLE that thing for 10 bucks...if it looks as great in person as it does in the pictures you really cashed in! Love it! (I'm pretty jealous right now)

OMG. Seriously! 10 bucks for that thing?! I would have paid $100 for it! By far the best steal that I've seen thus far! You've got a great eye for things like that! I'm impressed. And jealous. Beyond belief.

Much Love,

I just popped over from Thriftaholics Weekly - what a great find! I love the idea of using a trunk as a coffee table. It has a lot more character than the average coffee table, and the storage is an added bonus!

The trunk looks great. I really need to start checking out some of the local estate sales for stuff.
