Recipe: Pumpkin Spice Latte (It's National Coffee Day!)

Happy National Coffee Day! That's right, a day to honor my favorite drink.  I don't watch his show, but I was floored when I happened to see a clip of Anderson Cooper trying coffee for the very first time yesterday.  I can't imagine life without my coffee, can you?!

One of my favorite coffee drinks is a pumpkin spice latte. I eagerly await its arrival every year. I decided I would make my own, so I could have them year round (plus it's way cheaper!)  Usually when I try to make drinks like the coffee shop I am disappointed, but this recipe is pretty good!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin OR 1 teaspoon of Torani Pumpkin Spice Syrup (your choice)
2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute - you can halve this amount
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1-2 shots espresso (about 1/4 cup of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee if you don't have an espresso machine.)
Directions:
In a saucepan combine milk, pumpkin and sugar and cook on medium heat, stirring, until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and spice, transfer to a blender and process for 15 seconds until foamy. If you don't have a blender, don't worry about it - just whisk the mixture really well with a wire whisk.
Pour into a large mug or two mugs. Add the espresso on top.
Optional: Top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon on top.

*Be sure you don't grab the paprika and sprinkle it instead of with cinnamon.  (Fail.)

Since it's National Coffee Day you can get some great deals on coffee. You better believe this girl will be taking full advantage.

7-Eleven convenience stores: The deal lasts until 11 a.m., but many locations have free coffee, while supplies last. Get the list here. The deal at 7-Eleven gives customers a free medium coffee, cappuccino or latte between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Krispy Kreme retail stores: Head to Krispy Kreme and get a free 12-ounce cup of House Blend Coffee. And get this -- no purchase necessary. The offer is good all day, while supplies last.
Caribou Coffee stores:  The national coffee house chain offers a "buy one, get one free" deal all day. The offer is valid at participating stores, one per person.

DIY: Felt and Berry Fall Wreath

I mentioned the other day that I had a fall wreath in the works. Ever since I started seeing the felt wreaths everywhere, I knew I had to make one. Since there are so many tutorials out there, I didn't bother with my own (here's one for you though). I wanted to keep it very simple, so I only added the felt flowers to one section but then spruced it up a bit with the berries all over the wreath. This is a great little project--so inexpensive (I spent $7!) and so easy. Just don't burn yourself three times with the glue gun like me. :)

The perfect addition to our boring white door!

Saturday Morning Coffee 9.24

We had some milestones this week in our home.  Ashyr started eating solids and started crawling. I cried for both. Such a big boy!

Another big accomplishment is that I got to sneak away (sans baby) to my favorite coffee shop to read and enjoy a pumpkin pie blender this morning. :)

Grant's family is coming in town to visit later, so it should be a lovely weekend!  Hope yours is too!

Come back Monday to see my latest fall project!

Check it Out: Free Fall Printable + Giveaway

Tomorrow is the first day of fall and I could not be more excited (it's more like a holiday for me.)  I just stumbled across this free fall printable last night at The Letter 4 and had to use it. Took out a picture of yours truly in her wedding dress and added this cute little touch of fall to our bookshelf...much better!

"A life without love is like a year without fall."

So true.

And while we are talking about free stuff, be sure to hop over to Crazy Random Happenstances and enter into her Kate Spade giveaway!  What an ADORABLE necklace.  Now now, don't all of you enter because that decreases my chances.  But if I don't win, I may just have to get me one anyway (*hint hint Grant*)

Thrifted: Winter Wardrobe

I had a couple of thrifting adventures this weekend and I feel like I robbed Goodwill and Savers.  We all got some great additions to our winter wardrobes which we will be needing before you know it. Baby got eight, mama got four, and daddy got two. I don't know what I am most excited about: to see adorable little Ashyr in his new clothes, to see my good lookin' husband in his, or to wear the sweater I got from Goodwill that still had the tag from Gap on it--originally $39.50.  Insane!
