Lately, I have been wanting to be more diligent about using supplies that I already have on hand whenever I have an inkling to create (which is oooh, about everyday.) I have tons of unused, leftover crafting goodies that are just taking up storage space. Plus after purchasing a new home, saving money sounds like a good idea!
I had all these supplies on hand with the candles being from a Christmas project, and the twine I used in yesterday's "Hanging Hearts" post. This is what I came up with after digging through my stored treasures:
Supplies:
Mason jar (or any old jar)
Twine
Votive candle
Old sheet music (or an old book would be great too)
Scissors
Glue stick
The reason I thought of this project was because Ashyr recently got a hold of an old hymnal on our bookshelf and tore out half of the pages. I was looking for a way to be resourceful and use the sheet music somehow because it was too pretty not to! I love old vintage books, and the pages just have so much character. Henceforth, I cut out a heart, glued it to a mason jar, lit a red candle for Valentine's day and voila! A nice decoration for the piano or table centerpiece. I loved the smaller cut out heart too, so I found a canning jar and made a second...and a third with a baby jar!
Thriftiness at its best!
Special thanks to my husband for the birthday roses last week. They made these pictures look much prettier than they otherwise would have. :)

This is beautiful! I love the idea of using hymnsheets...how did you get the paper fixed without the glue marking the glass?
Sarah (found you on 20sb!)
What a great idea to dress up ordinary jars for Valentine's Day. I featured them on this week's Terrific Under Ten Tuesday!
