When it comes to giving gifts to my husband, he's pretty easy. Just buy him one of his favorite adult beverages, put a bow on it, and he's one happy camper. Usually I get him some of his favorite wine or Boulevard Wheat, but for Valentine's Day this year I thought it would be fun to mix up a little something myself!
I concocted this drink which I'm calling "Love Potion" in honor of the holiday. It is just equal parts white tequila, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice, and orange juice.
I got this amazing old vintage glass bottle from my grandma and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to use it. You could use any old wine bottle or even pour out the tequila in another container and use the bottle for your "Love Potion." In fact, I bought some margarita mix to use up the tequila. I froze it and now have margaritas ready when we have friends over (of course I won't get any until after the baby--sigh).
Now I know I said it is just equal parts of all the ingredients, so the amount of each changes with how big of bottle you use. What I suggest is filling your bottle up with water then measuring out how many cups there are. Just divide by four since there are four ingredients. My bottle held two cups of water, so I used a half cup of each ingredient. And I wish I had a funnel for this, but I just used a measuring cup with little spouts to pour the liquids into the bottle. A tad messy, but got the job done.
Then shake it up and your Love Potion is ready. It turned out a reddish-orange color. If I were to do it again, I would use a little less orange juice and more cranberry to achieve a slightly more red tone.
Now just make a label that says "Love Potion" and maybe a message on the other side for your sweetie!
