DIY: Repurposed Necktie for Baby

I was out shopping last week trying to find something for my Ashyr-pie to wear for Easter--you know for one of those sweet little boy outfits with a dress shirt, vest, and necktie.  But then I was like shoot, what am I doing? He already has a white sweater vest, several dress shirts that fit, and some khakis. Why bother spending money on a new outfit he will wear once and get blueberry applesauce all over anyway?  So I hit up a thrift store and snagged this mens necktie for a buck and decided I would make him a little tie instead.

Directions:

1. I cut a V-shape into the tie, just before it started to flare out towards the other end.

2. Then I cut out some of the middle layer to make it easier to sew it back up.

3. Just used a simple blanket stitch here.

4. Now tie it and that's it!

Super easy, cheap, and exactly the colors I was looking for.  I cannot wait until next Sunday to see him wearing it! He's gonna look so handsome. :)  (That is if he will cooperate by letting me put it on him and actually keep it on during church).

Very cute! I've been thinking about doing this for my sister's wedding. All the guys are going to be wearing striped ties so I might make some mini ones for the babies!
