Holy cow I think this is the first time I've ever let an entire week slip away without posting. Do forgive me, but also don't be surprised if it happens more often over the next few weeks. *Sigh* It's not because of a lack of content or that I'm slipping away from blogosphere. It's just the craziness of life right now, ya know? We have taken on too many projects I'm afraid between our web business, new house, and summer painting business that we operate starting every May. Leaves little time for working on my favorite kind of projects which I get to share with you.
In other news. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant (!) and thankful it's moving right along. I am on the 2 week plan with my midwife, meaning I'll go every 2 weeks for an appointment. I remember when I hit this mark with Ashyr that time just whizzed by. Currently I'm trying to wrap my head around having a second baby to care for in less than 2 months, but I'm also very excited at the same time. I meant to get a bump picture up today, but alas it didn't get taken.
All right friends, don't delete Capernaum Home from your reading list. Promise I have some things lined up. :)

Saturday Morning Coffee 4.21
Last week we went to some friends of ours for dinner. They are photographers and asked after dinner if they could snap a few pics of our family. A free photoshoot?! YES PLEASE! It was so much fun and so sweet of them to do. Unfortunately, Ashyr was feeling sick and had thrown up all over his clothes just minutes before the shoot. Thankfully, I had a change of clothes in the diaper bag even though it was a small pair of jeans and oversized shirt. He did great for feeling sick. And we clearly weren't prepared for the shoot and our outfits didn't coordinate, but I love the pictures and wanted to share just a few of them! Have a marvelous weekend! I'm looking forward to spending it with these two boys. :)

Recipe: Baked Bleu Cheese Dip
I have always loved bleu cheese: as a dressing served with wings, in the crumbled form on salads, melted on top of burgers, you name it. I absolutely love its sharp, tangy, distinct flavor. I have been craving it like crazy lately, so I made this dip the other night for a group of friends and it was SO good! Definitely hit the spot.
Baked Bleu Cheese Dip
Ingredients:
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper
4 ounces bleu cheese, crumbled
2 green onions, dark and light parts, chopped
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Place cream cheese, cream, garlic pepper in the bowl of a food processor or mixer and blend until smooth. Stir in bleu cheese and green onion and pulse a 2 of 3 times to combine.
3. Spread dip into a medium baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes until heated through and golden brown on top.
4. Serve warm.
I served mine with some baked wheat bagel chips I found at the store, but it would be equally delish with crudites, pita chips, or a french baguette. Also you can easily make it the day before, refrigerate it in the baking dish, and just pop it into the oven and bake a little extra the next day.

Saturday Morning Coffee 4.14
For the first time in 13 months, I have a sick baby. This week has made my heart break for my little man who has had a nasty cold and low-grade fever. Not to mention he is teething like crazy. Talk about sleepless nights and miles and miles put on our rocking chair. Although I have absolutely hated seeing him in this condition, I have enjoyed all the extra snuggle time. I'm also *trying* to look at the sleepless nights as a good reminder of what it will be like have a newborn again in a couple months.
I think my biggest reminder has come spiritually though. Sure this was only a yucky cold and little fever, but it helped me remember that our sweet Ashyr's health is ultimately in God's hands. As a mom we do everything we can to keep them safe and healthy, but He is the one in control. I have learned this week to be more okay with that as I've prayed over him while rocking him to sleep.

Oh I just love this mixed pattern look and the colors.
Especially after being up all night with a sick and teething baby...
All I've wanted to eat lately is pizza and this just looks heavenly!
So cool.

Recipe: Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes
Our Easter was amazing as expected. Church was great as we had a wonderful time remembering Christ's resurrection. Although it really doesn't get any better than that, I did whip up something quite yummy to make the day extra sweet while Grant's family was here visiting. Because it was Easter, I was wanting something very spring-like (without bunnies or Easter eggs) to help us celebrate the day after our feast. I found this recipe online and knew it was exactly what I was looking for.
Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes:
Cupcakes:
3/4 c + 2 T all-purpose flour, divided
3/4 c cake flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
8 T unsalted butter, room temp
3/4 c + 2 T sugar
1 lemon zest
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 T lemon juice
1/2 c + 2 milk
1 c fresh blueberries
Frosting:
1 c white shortening
1 tsp vanilla
3 c powder sugar
3 T milk
2 T lemon juice
1 lemon zest
yellow food coloring (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350˚ F. Line cupcake pans with paper liners. In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder and salt; whisk together and set aside. Mix in separate bowl then add butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, milk, and lemon zest.
2. Gently fold in blueberries.
3. Fill cupcake liners and bake 20-22 minutes.
4. For the frosting, mix the shortening and vanilla. Add about 2 cups powdered sugar and mix well. Add more sugar until the mixture becomes a bit dry in texture. Then add 1 tbsp. of milk and mix. It’s up to you on when you are finished. Add more powdered sugar if the frosting is too runny, or add more milk if the frosting is too thick and dry.
5. Add yellow food coloring if desired.
6. Mix in the lemon juice and lemon zest.
7. Frost cooled cupcakes. (I used a ziplock bag.) Garnish with fresh blueberries.

Saturday Morning Coffee 4.7
I am STOKED that tomorrow is Easter Sunday, might just be my favorite day of the whole year! Sure it's fun to get dressed up in something new and put the sweetest little outfits on Ashyr, but seriously, what a glorious occasion it is to celebrate our Savior's resurrection from the grave which now gives us hope and joy forevermore!
Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!

DIY: Repurposed Necktie for Baby
I was out shopping last week trying to find something for my Ashyr-pie to wear for Easter--you know for one of those sweet little boy outfits with a dress shirt, vest, and necktie. But then I was like shoot, what am I doing? He already has a white sweater vest, several dress shirts that fit, and some khakis. Why bother spending money on a new outfit he will wear once and get blueberry applesauce all over anyway? So I hit up a thrift store and snagged this mens necktie for a buck and decided I would make him a little tie instead.
Directions:
1. I cut a V-shape into the tie, just before it started to flare out towards the other end.
2. Then I cut out some of the middle layer to make it easier to sew it back up.
3. Just used a simple blanket stitch here.
4. Now tie it and that's it!
Super easy, cheap, and exactly the colors I was looking for. I cannot wait until next Sunday to see him wearing it! He's gonna look so handsome. :) (That is if he will cooperate by letting me put it on him and actually keep it on during church).
